Yardbirds and Led Zep and rock icon Jimmy Page has so many guitars he doesn't know what to do with them all, according to http://www.contactmusic.com

They say that axe man Page admits his collection of instruments has grown out of control and he uses only a handful of the guitars he has picked up over the years.

Page says, "I've collected guitars for various nostalgic reasons. I've got far too many... I can trim my guitar collection down to what I actually use to quite a few."

But there's one instrument he boasts as one of his most prized possessions: "I have an Eddie Cochran guitar and it started off not his guitar, but Buddy Holly's."

Jimmy Page, who replaced Eric Clapton in The Yardbirds has used an enviable collection of fine guitars troughout his career.

Electric guitars
1959 Fender Telecaster (given to Page by Jeff Beck and repainted with a psychedelic Dragon on it by Page. Played with the Yardbirds, on Led Zeppelin, the early tours (68-69) Also used to record "Stairway To Heaven" solo.
1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard (No. 2) acquired in 1973, neck was shaved down to match the profile on his #1; after Led Zeppelin broke up, he added four push/pull pots to coil split the humbuckers as well as phase and series switches under the pick guard.
1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard (No. 1) Given to him by Joe Walsh, modified with a shaved neck and the addition of push/pull pots to coil split the humbuckers as well as a phase and series switch.[54][55]

1959 Danelectro 3021 AKA 59-DC (tuned to DADGAD tuning and used live for "White Summer", "Black Mountain Side", "Kashmir" and "Midnight Moonlight" with The Firm.)

1967 Vox 12-String
1960 Black Gibson Les Paul Custom(with Bigsby Tremolo) - stolen in 1970. An ad was placed by Page for the recovery of this highly modified instrument but the guitar was never recovered. In 2008 the Gibson Custom Shop produced a limited run of 25 replicas of the guitar including the Bigsby Tremolo and the custom 6-way toggle switch.[56]
Rickenbacker 12 String
1971 Gibson EDS-1275 (used for playing "Stairway to Heaven", "The Rain Song", "The Song Remains the Same" and on some occasions, "Tangerine" live and "Sick Again" throughout the 1977 U.S. tour)
1969 Gibson Les Paul Standard (seen in "The Song Remains The Same" during the theremin/solo section of "Whole Lotta Love" and for "Kashmir" on the O2 reunion concert. This guitar was later fitted with a Parsons-White B-string bender and used on the Outrider tour.) During Whole Lotta Love in the movie, you can see the back of the head and there is no volute (meaning it is pre-1970), and other close up pictures have revealed a pancake body (those came along in mid 1969 and went away after 1976); thus with no volute and a pancake body, it must be a mid 1969 Les Paul
1964 Lake Placid Blue Fender Stratocaster(Used during recording sessions for In Through the Out Door and 1979 at Knebworth for In the Evening)
1966 Cream Fender Telecaster (Used on Physical Graffiti)
1960's Botswana Brown Fender Telecaster featuring a Parsons and White B-string bender, and neck salvaged from the "Dragon Telecaster". Seen primarily during the 1980s The Firm and Outrider era. Also used at Knebworth in 1979, notably on "Ten Years Gone" and "Hot Dog".
1965 Fender Electric XII (12-String)
1977 Gibson RD Artist (used at Knebworth in 1979, on "Misty Mountain Hop")
Gibson SG (seldom used, 80s tour)
Another Gibson doubleneck guitar was given to him after he agreed to allow the company to reproduce his original EDS-1275. The guitar was picked by Page out of numerous others after he struck one chord. Page declared "This is it, this is the one!" The guitar was marked (beforehand) #1.
2007 Gibson Black Beauty custom (remake of his original stolen in 1970, has modifications concerning pickup configurations which include a 6-way pickup selector, and coil-tap on the bridge pickup)

I literally cannot imagine having a warehouse full of guitars or even "too many guitars to use." This idea always amazes me. Something similar was said on Metallica's "Some Kind of Monster." The new bassist was told the guys have a warehouse full of guitars and only kept something like 100 around at all times. I have three guitars, and a lot of parts sitting around. I'm a hobbyist, and that's something to consider, but if you have so many guitars it's a hazard, I'm sure there are people that would love to buy them or have them. Donate the money to charity.

Damn!,can you imagine the cost of one of those?!,as I've just found out a guitar's only worth what someone would pay for it!,how much would you pay for his "dragon" telecaster?,on live vids,used on tour with zepplin,one off dragon inlay,never mind once owned by jeff beck!!. It's a piece of rock histor like jimi's White "Woodstock" strat,clapton's "blackie",and eddie van halen's Frankenstein!,somebody stop me I'm drooling........heh heh

Jimmy's 1960 "Black Beauty" mentioned above was recreated by the Gibson Custom, they did a 1 0f 1 version for themselves to jam at their Custom Shop workplace before Gibson came up with the idea to do a Re-issue, its Serial Num 001XXX, it was not meant for General Public Release, some call it the Prototype Version.
Just to Clarify Gibson Custom shop did do release 250 great re-issue's of this Guitar and Jimmy signed a Limited first 25 models with a Gold Perm Paint/Maker.... Gibson gave Jimmy the first 5 issue's, apparently...!
An employee left Gibson Custom Shop and took the Jimmy Page 1 of 1 with him, not sure of the exact scenario...
He got strapped for some cash and sold it to me...! Its a True 1 of 1, its a Real Collectors Dream, I have many Guitars but I would rate this one 10 out of 10.......!
