My apologies for everyone who wanted to see it painted, but..





I tested the oil on a spot under the pickguard to see what it would look like and just as I hoped there was some beautiful grain hiding in there. The streaks in the pictures are actually part of the grain, and there are so many little subleties to it that my camera can't pick up. So that's where it stands now, I'm gonna do the front of the body and sides until it's got all of it's coats on then I will move on to the back and the neck. I couldn't be happier with it at the monent.

Front got a second coat yesterday, back and neck got their first coat today.





There's a comparison of the untouched wood and when it's got only one coat on. Quite an improvement I think

It's been a while since I've had an update but there has been a ton of progress. I'm getting my camera back tonight so pictures will be up soon but the guitar is assembled and almost ready to go. I had a problem with the new bridge afterall, the strings didn't sit right on the saddles at all because it was the wrong bridge type afterall.. the complaint has already been submitted to the store that told me it was what i needed. But anyways, I had an idea and managed to get the saddles off the pigtail style bridge I got originally and it works like a charm

It's also wired up and everything works so I decided to test it out a little plugged in with just the 2 e strings on and all I can say is wow. The sound out of this thing is just incredible, playing on one string for 5-10 minutes and I'm sold on p-90s.

Hopefully one of these days I'll get around to picking up some strings for it and get it done I might stick with my favorite ernie ball 9's or maybe 10's to give it a little extra bite either way it's a keeper and a very, very fine addition on my quest for having a guitar from every generation 50's, 70's, and 2000's down, everything in between to go

I'm thinking 60's - silvertone, aria, etc. or maybe a decently priced hofner-esque guitar in need of a little work
80's - jackson or charvel of course. Possibly a BC rich, a mockingbird or gunslinger methinks.
90's - fender tele or jap. strat

That is very, very tempting indeed unfortunately I'm unemployed and cant' exactly justify spending what cash I do have left on a guitar at the moment damn. But I have pics up of the guitar, hopefully completed pics will be up this weekend if I get strings the same time I get my new fishy

Well the day I've been waiting 5 months for is here it's finally done.

Hi Shashing, it's great to see it finally finished - are you pleased with the final result?

Does it play OK? Intonation & action work out alright? Happy with the sound?

Probably a dumb question, but is the bridge supposed be at that angle? Looks pretty strange to me.

Anyhow, congratulations on sticking with and and seeing the project through to the end.

So... what's next? Got any new projects on the horizon, or are you thinking "never again"?

I am very pleased with it it sounds just incredible, for being 35$ a piece the p-90s are very very clear.

It plays very well too, these and juniors of the same era are notorious for never having perfect intonation due to the bridge but really it's only noticable (very slightly at that) past the 12th fret. May need to raise the bridge just a hair but it plays and plays and plays as it is

Not a dumb question at all, the bridges were angled like that for intonation purposes (you can tell how well that worked when they changed it a couple years later ) as the bass side is further from the nut that the treble side because.. that's how things work I guess lol, I believe the lower strings need the longer length to tune perfectly along the frets.

Thanks you I'm very proud of it, it's barely left my hands since about 10 this morning. It's been a long ride with more than it's fair share of headaches but so, so worth it in the end.

As far as projects, those will never end I've got one practically finished up now, refinished my 7-string. I'll get around to posting some pics up one of these days but you may need your sunglasses for this one then i'll be re-painting my strat copy thats got a less than impressive finish on it right now and my squier p-bass is getting redone in a vintage race car kind of theme should be a busy summer.

Well it's been a while but I have yet another update yeah. So I got in contact with the place I ordered my bridge from and had a chat about one of their employees telling me to buy the wrong bridge so after some less than straight forward emails they sent me out the correct bridge. Now it's all done for good and there's no more hideous buzzing from the bridge
