So it's been a while since my last post but not much has happened in the paint world, been busy going to college for autobody so I can do this professionally anyways I've decided to finally repaint my strat copy decently and boy is it going to be a doozy but you'll all see here's what it looks like at the moment, taking the day off tomorow to work on it and another project so more pics will be up soon.


And here's my little laptop I painted about a month back, didn't come out too bad I think.


So the other day I dug out my old skateboard from about 10 years ago that I had the idea to paint into a sign for my painting go figure eh? should be cool when it's done, very bright hehe.


So that's my little update, might post up a NGD in the gear section this evening, picking up a pretty sweet deal in an hour until then,

Good to hear from you too Geoff, how are things? and thanks on the TPB poster, I must be really canadian because my whole family loves that show the girlfriend just doesn't get it though So the board's about to get it's second coat of fluorescent yellow here it is at the moment, not sure why 8 year old magic marker's showing through though but hey.

Alright so the skateboard idea got scrapped for now, it'll get done eventually. Onto the guitar though

And 99% done the painting, might add a logo to the headstock but not sure yet. This is all before clear but it's on, sanded and buffed now so all that's left is to wire it back up and put everything back together. Yay soldering That's getting done as we speak so fully assembled pics should be up pretty soon again

And it's done! just finished playing it for a bit, this things been waiting for a non-crappy paintjob for a while now hehe. And yes those are hot pink strings on there.

Hi J, it's good to hear that you're looking at painting as a career, you've obviously got a real passion for it - it's great to have a job you enjoy and are enthusiastic about... good luck with college.

The laptop finish is great - how did you do that?

Interesting finish on the Strat copy, I love the black & cream effect, did you spray it through a mesh of some sort? Was it your idea, or a recognised technique? I'm not crazy about the "spray right over the scratchplate and pickups" thing, but I guess that's just an age thing!

Keep on showing us your projects J, we enjoy seeing them.

PS: don't give up on the skateboard, that was a cool idea! A great way of showing your work and a good platform for trying out your ideas and techniques... you cold keep changing it throughout your painting career and keep a photographic record of its different looks... it cold be your trademark!

I agree the spraying over the plastics part is more of a modern thing but I was in the mood for something different. It is a recognized technique but there's no real set material to use. I used some of those anti-slip rubbery mesh pad things cut to different shapes.
Thanks for the good luck btw the laptop was done by spraying a black base coat, letting dry, then spraying a very very heavy coat of metallic blue then placing a piece of seran wrap over top and twisting in the middle. Pretty simple but gives a cool effect.

I really like the laptop colors as well. Cool. Seems like a simple mod--maybe I'll try it? The guitar looks amazing. I was worried about spraying over the plastics as well. Let us know if it chips off--that would be my worry, really. I love the black. Let us know how it all holds up!
