Rescued this cheapo from a carpentry workshop.
It was in great distress with a puncture wound on its plywood top and a broken tuning peg.
Struggling for breath as thick dust cover its entire body and the remaining rusty steel strings strangled its neck.
No guitars, whether low or high end, should go through such torture before being discarded into the trash bin.
Here's what I did :
1) Sanded down the entire body. Removing painted on lines at sound hole and edges.
2) Filled up the puncture hole with wood fillers and topped up with some superglue.
3) Removed old tuning heads and put on a new set which costs about S$10.
4) Installed a set of transducer pickup by Schatten. Just need to drill a hole for the endpin jack preamp. All other parts are stuck on with double sided tapes.
5) Took out my Bible and with a sharpie (black & red) wrote down some inspirational verses on the plywood top.
6) After I'm done with writing, I sprayed on a layer of clear (matt) lacquer. Followed by several thin layers so that the words do not dissolve with the lacquer.
7) Left it to dry for about an hour before putting on a set of new nylon strings.
8) Added a pick with the Chinese character "YI" which means "Righteous" on the headstock and pasted a photoshopped image inside the sound hole........
Here's what we've got !! A "BORN AGAIN" nylon string guitar.
